Five of the board game's characters keep their names but have had a style revamp - only Colonel Mustard stays the same.
Cluedo, the board game that has been entertaining families since 1923, has killed off one of its key characters.
Mrs White, housekeeper at the mansion owned by Dr Black, is to be replaced by Dr Orchid, who was privately educated in Switzerland "until her expulsion following a near-fatal daffodil poisoning incident".
Dr Orchid was taught by the very character she is to replace and she gained a PhD in plant toxicology.
To add to the twist, the new character is the adoptive daughter of Samuel Black, the owner of the mansion where the key players in the Cluedo stakes are staying, and the usual victim in the game.
Cluedo's owner, Hasbro, says it has taken the decision to kill off a character for the first time since 1949 because "after 70 years of suspicious activity, we decided that one of the characters had to go".
There are six characters in total including Miss Scarlett, Professor Plum, Mrs Peacock, the Reverend Green and Colonel Mustard as well as the new Dr Orchid.
They have all been revamped and updated in recent years and the only character who remains as he always was in Colonel Mustard, who is described as "significantly" older.
The card game involves finding out who killed whom, where, and with what.
The murder weapons are a candlestick, dagger, lead pipe, revolver, rope and spanner.
