Two Children Die After Car Crashes Into Loch

The A816 beside Loch nan Druimnean in Scotland

Two children aged two and three have died after the car they were travelling in crashed into a loch near Oban, in Scotland.
It is understood that the children were among three people who were in the car when it veered off the road and into the deep water of Loch nan Druimnean near Argyll at around 4pm this afternoon.
Police dive teams, helicopters and coastguard teams then spent hours searching the loch, which is just south of Oban, near the village of Kilmelford.
Inspector Darren Faulds said: "Two young children have lost their lives and our thoughts and condolences go out to the family of those involved in this tragic incident."
A 36-year-old woman was taken to hospital in Oban after the incident but she was later released.
A spokesman for Police Scotland said that the children's bodies were recovered from the car and efforts to get the car out of the water are continuing.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Lochgilphead on 101.
